My interpretive image was my most successful because I believe it is my most imaginative photo. I created a photo series for this category to indicate that a story is unfolding through the three pictures. The items are fairly generic, allowing for many different interpretations of what they may symbolize. I also like the soft colors and slight grain of each photo, cultivating a sort of nostalgic and vintage feel to the image. Creating my own little world through my photographs is one of my artistic goals and I believe I was successful at doing so through this image.
Biggest Challenge
The most challenging portion of this assignment was gaining a good understanding of what each category meant. Before being able to take any photos, I spent a long time studying the lecture so that I could plan my photos accordingly. Additionally, it was deceptively difficult to come up with ideas for seemingly simple categories like 'explanatory'.
In the Future...
In the future, I plan to determine what types of photos (in which category) I want to take before I go out and shoot, considering what I want to say through each image I produce. In our last assignment where we focused on composition, lighting, and color, I considered the aesthetics of the photo while neglecting the message. Now that I have the tools to do both, I want to try to create photos that are both beautiful and meaningful.

I love this photo, it captures the details of the ice so nicely! I think this is a good example of a photo that fits into more than one category as it not only explains how ice forms on glass, but also showcases the beauty of the ice crystals. This week has been very cold and I've grown to see ice as a huge inconvenience, but your photo reminded me of how gorgeous it can be when you take the time to look! Lovely work :)
Hi Alyssa! Your photos are absolutely beautiful, I was in awe when I first viewed your blog post. Immediately I was drawn first to the photo with the gold necklace, and it made me wonder the meaning behind it and if your locket contains anything special. Your photos have the perfect amount of contrast and coloring, the contrast of the flowers against the snow for example in the 3rd photo looks really nice especially with the lace on the bouquet. The photos have a soft tone to them, allowing me to feel calm and safe within the story you're portraying.
